About Fair Districts Mass
FairDistrictsMass.org is a nonpartisan group of Massachusetts voters working to establish fairly drawn congressional and legislative districts in Massachusetts as a result of the 2010 census.
Specifically, we plan to advocate for, and go to court if necessary to obtain, a congressional district that focuses on Suffolk County. This is based on the new census data showing that, for the first time since its creation in 1643, Suffolk County (which includes Boston) is now a majority-minority county (meaning that minorities make up the majority of its residents).
FairDistrictsMass.org is a non-partisan organization led by former Republican U.S. Senate candidate and Boston native Jack E. Robinson. Because this is a truly independent and historic effort, for the first time in his life Jack has left the Republican Party and has changed his voter registration to Independent.
Our general counsel is Daniel B. Winslow, an expert on redistricting and Senior Counsel in the Boston office of the Proskauer Rose law firm.
Fair Districts Mass.org (FDM), which for the past year has been the leading advocacy group demanding fairly drawn congressional districts in addition to a Boston-centered “minority/majority” district, has declared an historic victory for congressional redistricting in Massachusetts.
“Not only have we avoided partisan political gerrymandering, but we have a Boston-centered minority/majority district as well,” said FDM chairman Jack E. Robinson. Click here to see the new maps.
As the result of non gerrymandered districts,Representative Barney Frank and John Olver have retired and a new group of candidates have emerged.
